The teaching schedule begins with an Introductory Session. This is a group session designed to give general information about the Creighton Model System and lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours. If you decide to pursue instruction, materials are purchased, basic instructions for beginning charting are given, and a follow-up appointment is made.
The follow-up sessions are very important so that you may quickly gain confidence in using the system and it can be customized to meet your individual needs. Follow-up sessions are conducted one-on-one and generally last 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The first four follow-ups are scheduled every two weeks, allowing for close supervision during the learning phase of charting. The sessions become less frequent as you gain confidence in managing your own chart. After the 8th follow-up, sessions are scheduled on an as-needed basis, with a “check up” appointment recommended at least once a year.
Advanced issues such as infertility or hormonal abnormalities may require the teaching schedule to be modified to suit the client’s situation and needs. If a Medical Consultant is required, recommendations and referrals will made.
